The project to restructure the agricultural sector for the period 2021 - 2025, with an orientation to 2030, has just been approved. The People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province affirms the goal of sustainable agricultural development, improving quality, added value, increasing income for producers and product competitiveness. The province aims to build a large-scale concentrated commodity agriculture, applying advanced and modern technology and promoting the development of clean, organic and circular agriculture in association with market demand.
Accordingly, the province restructures products in the field of cultivation in the direction of gradually reducing the area of land planted with perennial industrial crops such as rubber by 19.4%, cashew nuts by 9.1% and increasing the area of fruit trees.
For cashew trees, Binh Phuoc aims to promote cooperation and linkages between producers, cooperatives and businesses associated with the formation and development of processing factories to ensure raw material areas with stable output and high quality, combined with the development of agricultural products and specialties under the cashew canopy; Promote and develop the brand "Binh Phuoc cashew" in the direction of specialties, multi-value, multi-product; Reduce competitive pressure from imported cashew nuts, prioritize export and domestic consumption.
The group of economic experts Huynh The Du, Hoang Van Thang, Do Thien Anh Tuan (Fulbright University Vietnam) recommended that Binh Phuoc should limit production expansion and maintain the existing cashew area; Form cashew raw material production cooperatives with certified geographical indications to provide consistent raw materials to the market; forming a cashew processing industry cluster; Focus on attracting deep processing to diversify output products from cashew kernels, cashew shells and fake fruits.
Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee said that with rubber trees, the province continues to promote linkages along the multi-value chain of products from latex to wood. Finished rubber latex, crops and livestock under rubber trees have high added value and provide services and deeply processed products for industry to supply domestic and foreign markets, with priority given to export.
The livestock sector will increase its proportion to about 25% by 2025 and 30% by 2030 in Binh Phuoc's agricultural production value; develop farm animal husbandry towards high technology, chain links, from breeding to slaughter, processing, consumption, ensuring food safety and veterinary hygiene; creating a large volume of products, high productivity, good quality, high competitiveness, increasing added value.
"In the coming time, Binh Phuoc will build chain models in new agricultural production activities as models for specialized farming areas, meeting market requirements such as: ecological agriculture, green agriculture, resource saving and waste reduction; organic, circular, smart, high-tech agriculture, combining industry such as agricultural product processing, waste and by-product recycling, renewable energy production; agricultural models combining experiential tourism services, environmental protection services, and services. training services and providing technology transfer and agricultural product business services...", Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee said.
However, the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province believes that the preservation, distribution and consumption of local agricultural products is still a weakness. To overcome this drawback, the province will deploy solutions to remove bottlenecks to ensure agricultural products meet the needs and requirements of the market along the industry chain in a sustainable way.
Recently, at a working session with leaders of Binh Phuoc province, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized the strategic role of agriculture and requested the province to restructure the agricultural sector; which focuses on a number of issues such as cooperation, linkage, market development, crystal processing, increasing quality, and reducing costs. In particular, we must move from single-sector production and development to interdisciplinary development, single-value to multi-value goals. The province needs to reorganize agricultural production; In which, the entire political system, associations and people participate.
