Common types of iron and steel in construction today

Hanoi Iron and Steel (HSV) - Construction iron and steel are classified into many different types, the most popular of which are rolled steel, construction rebar and shaped steel. Each of these types has different properties and applications. So that you can better understand the types of construction iron and steel, their advantages and disadvantages as well as their outstanding applications, this article would like to share this content in the most detail.

Construction steel rolls (Construction steel)

What is rolled steel? Construction iron and steel.

Construction rolled steel is a type of steel commonly used in civil industrial construction, mechanical engineering, machine tool manufacturing, factory structures and many other uses. The reason people call it rolled steel is because steel is a long fiber wound into a coil.

To create finished rolled steel products, one must go through a complex production process that requires high technique and technology when the raw materials are cast into billets, then the steel billets continue to be melted and formed into rolled steel products.

Steel coils sold on the market today all comply with Vietnam standard 1651 - 1:2008.

Manufactured in three sizes: size 6, size 8 and size 10.

Steel products are also divided into many types to meet the diverse needs of customers such as galvanized steel coils, hot rolled steel coils, cold rolled steel coils, stainless steel coils.

Application of rolled steel (construction steel)

Rolled steel products are often used in industrial and civil construction, mechanical engineering, tools, factory structures, cutting and welding pipes and many other uses.

Many applications in factory buildings, floor lining, truck floors, stairs...

Coil steel is also used to make cold-rolled pipes or for stamping and shaping.

Construction rebar – rebar

Construction rebar - what is rebar? (construction steel)

Rebar steel is one of the types of construction steel with a long bar structure, on each body of the steel bar there are molded embossed stripes.

This product has a diameter from 10mm to 40 mm depending on customer needs.

Rebar steel is packed into bundles with a weight of no more than 5 tons, using steel wire or strapping to bundle.

Rebar steel, also known as concrete reinforced steel, has good load-bearing properties, high hardness and durability, so it is widely used in all concrete and reinforced construction projects, civil houses, industrial buildings, office buildings, bridges and roads and hydroelectric projects...

Types of shaped steel (construction steel)

What is shaped steel?

Shaped steel is one of the types of industrial steel that mainly serves construction projects. It is produced on modern technology and shaping lines.

Some common types of shaped steel include H-shaped steel, I-shaped steel, U-shaped steel, L-shaped steel, and V-shaped steel

H shaped steel

H-shaped steel is used to make prefabricated houses and high-rise architecture

It is one of the products that can withstand great force, so it is often used for housing projects, prefabricated house structures, high-rise architecture, floor shields...

I-shaped steel

Just like H-shaped steel has good bearing capacity, i-shaped steel is also applied to the structure of the building, but if the building is subject to vertical load, people will instead use y-shaped steel rather than using H-shaped steel.

U shaped steel

This type of steel has strong and durable properties that can be commonly used in construction projects, manufacturing machinery and equipment, making car bodies, car frames, furniture, etc.

V-shaped steel

This type of steel has a V-shaped design used for large projects. The special advantage of this type is that it has the ability to withstand different forces.

Types of construction steel pipes

Steel pipe is one of the types of steel commonly used for construction projects. This steel is designed in the form of a thick tube that is hollow inside.

Normally steel pipes are bundled into bundles.

Steel pipes are often used to make prefabricated house frames, scaffolding, water pipes in high-rise buildings, light poles and applications in mechanical factories.

There are 4 types of tubes sold on the market today:

Galvanized welded steel pipes

Galvanized steel pipes are steel pipes made from black steel pipes. The material is black steel pipe, galvanized evenly over the entire surface

The hot-dip galvanizing process is always guaranteed to take place according to procedures and standards to create the most durable and beautiful products.

After the cleaning process with a specialized solution, the black steel pipe will be dried and dipped into the galvanizing tank. It is required that the steel pipe must be dipped evenly and evenly to cover both the inside and outside of the product. The dipping time must always comply with the standard time to make the galvanized layer neither too thin nor too thick.

After being removed from the galvanizing tank, the galvanized pipe will be immediately cooled by placing it in a cold water tank

Black welded round steel tube

Steel pipes have walls that are not too thick but have very good durability and pressure resistance (due to the circular structure), are difficult to be scratched or distorted when impacted, have high uniformity and are easy to install, and are quite flexible in use.

With diameters from 12.7 to 127 mm, Hoa Phat black steel pipe products are commonly used in mechanical engineering and standard structural welding.

Large black welded steel pipe

A type of steel pipe with a large diameter, often used to carry water, oil, etc. The origin of large-sized welded steel pipes is often imported mainly from countries such as China, Russia, Korea, Taiwan and uses straight welding and spiral welding technology to make products.

Square steel pipe, rectangular steel pipe

Square and rectangular steel tubes, also known as box steel, are often used in the construction industry, as scaffolding, roof frames, or to build prefabricated house structures.
