(HSV VIETNAM GROUP) – Agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, coffee,... are purchased by many countries at good prices, thanks to which agricultural export turnover increased sharply compared to the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agricultural, forestry and fishery product exports in March reached 4.85 billion USD, up 6% over the same period last year.
In particular, agricultural product exports continued to increase strongly over the same period when reaching 2.75 billion USD (an increase of 31%), forestry product exports showed signs of slowing down when the value only reached 1.22 billion USD (equivalent to the same period last year), while seafood exports decreased by nearly 15% and only reached 653 million USD.
In the first 3 months of this year, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 13.53 billion USD, up nearly 22% over the same period last year. Trade surplus value reached 3.36 billion USD, an increase of 96.5%.
Export value to Asian, European, American markets, etc. in the first three months of this year increased. China, the United States and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets.
Also according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first quarter, coffee was the agricultural export product with the strongest increase. In the past 3 months, Vietnam exported nearly 800,000 tons of coffee (up 44%), with an average price of 2,373 USD/ton (up 7%) and earned 1.9 billion USD (up 54%). This is a record export value in the first 3 months of the coffee industry.
Similarly, fruit and vegetable export turnover also increased sharply to 1.23 billion USD, up nearly 26% over the same period last year. This is the first time that Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports have reached and exceeded 1 billion USD in the first quarter of the year.
The demand for Vietnamese rice from other countries also continues to increase. Within 3 months, we exported 2.07 million tons of rice (up 40%), with an average price of 661 USD/ton (up 5%) and earned 1.37 billion USD.
Besides, the export price of some other products also increased over the same period, such as rubber 1,462 USD/ton (up 5%), pepper 4,153 USD/ton (up 36%).
It is forecasted that in the coming months, agricultural exports will continue to prosper, especially rice, coffee, vegetables, pepper, etc. due to increased import demand from other countries.
For the domestic market, prices of agricultural products do not have major fluctuations. Rice prices continue to decrease in the Mekong Delta provinces. The fruit market decreased compared to last month due to reduced demand.
Meanwhile, the price of live pigs shows good signs as it tends to increase in all 3 regions from 1,000-2,000 VND/kg, the price of white-legged shrimp decreases, and the price of pangasius increases.
