(HSV VIETNAM GROUP) – How does coffee price start the new week today after experiencing a clear upward trend week?
Today, August 11, the main coffee trading floors in the world will open in the afternoon (Vietnam time), the domestic market starts at 103,800 VND/kg, nearly 5,000 VND/kg higher than the beginning of last week.
Coffee prices on the international floor will start at 3,561 USD/ton for Robusta and 6,820 USD for Arabica, with delivery term of September 2025.
The issue many people are concerned about is whether coffee prices will continue to increase or not when Vietnam's new coffee crop is approaching?
Many farmers expressed that if the new coffee price is at the floor level of 100,000 VND/kg, it is too good for growers and they will feel secure in investing and taking care of their gardens.
Some domestic roasters said that farmers still expect coffee prices to return to the golden age, at 135,000 VND/kg, so they do not want to sell when the domestic market is just over 100,000 VND/kg.
Difficult to predict trends
Meanwhile, coffee prices on the London floor have dropped very rapidly recently. Buyers expect the price to continue to decrease so they are hesitant to sign new contracts until the price is more stable.
A development that makes many people think is that last July, foreign investors massively exported green coffee, the market share skyrocketed to 42.7% in volume and 46.4% in value while the average for this sector was 30%. This move raises the question of whether the big guys are unloading their inventory?
Many people think, maybe the big guys have predicted that coffee prices ahead will not be positive, but the market price movements over the past week have not been like that.
This further strengthens the argument that coffee prices are extremely unpredictable, business people should plan for the risk of strong price fluctuations.
