Factors affecting coffee prices are weather, climate change, supply fluctuations and global inventories. The El Niño weather phenomenon, expected to last until 2025, could significantly affect major coffee producing regions such as Brazil, Colombia and Vietnam. Prolonged dry spells or excessive rainfall can reduce yields, limit supply and push prices higher. Low inventory levels in 2024 could persist into 2025, increasing pressure on prices.

Brazil is forecast to produce only 34.4 million bags of Arabica coffee in the next crop, putting the global coffee supply at risk of not meeting demand, leading to a shortage of 8.5 million bags in the 2025 - 2026 crop year. If this scenario occurs, this will be the 5th consecutive year of a deficit - something that has never happened in history.

Unseasonal rain in Vietnam continues to affect coffee harvesting and processing. According to local sources, 20-30% of the crop has yet to be harvested and there are concerns that rain could affect the quality of coffee beans. At the Asian International Coffee Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association Vicofa estimated Vietnam's 2024-2025 coffee production to be 28 million bags, an increase of 1 million bags compared to the previous forecast.
