(HSV VIETNAM GROUP) – Global crude steel output decreased by 3.4% in February to 144.7 million tons compared to the same period last year, due to a decrease in China's output, accounting for more than 54% of global output.
China produced nearly 79 million tons in February, down 3.3% year-on-year, due to lower steel consumption during the Lunar New Year holiday.
India's crude steel output increased sharply 6.3% year-on-year to 12.7 million tons in February, thanks to strong domestic demand and increasing competitiveness in exports. India no longer faces the possibility of imposing anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled steel coils in the EU. The country is also enjoying sales to the Middle East and some operations in Africa.
EU crude steel output fell 7% year-on-year to 10 million tonnes in February, due to a sharp drop in German output.
