Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized this when giving instructions at an online conference summarizing the work in 2023 and implementing tasks in 2024 of the agricultural sector.

A year with good harvest and good price
According to the Prime Minister, in 2023, the agricultural sector will turn the situation from awkward, passive, and unexpected to proactive, confident, timely, and creative to remove and overcome difficulties and challenges to get high results.
"We changed the state from defense and resistance to a breakthrough attack in some industries such as vegetables, fruits, rice and some other industrial crops... to set new records.
In other words, agriculture 2023 will be a year of good harvest and bumper prices in some industries as I just said. The role and position of agriculture is increasingly affirmed" - said the Prime Minister.
With an overall industry growth of more than 3.8%, the Prime Minister also affirmed that the agricultural sector has contributed to controlling inflation in the country.
Another bright spot pointed out by the Prime Minister is that the agricultural sector has synchronously implemented many solutions to encourage the promotion of research and application of science and technology.
"This is also a good year for awards in the agricultural industry, for the second time our ST25 rice has won the best rice award in the world. This is something to be very proud of, demonstrating innovation and national brand..." - the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, in reality in 2023, the agricultural sector will overcome difficulties by promoting the spirit of resources originating from thinking, motivation originating from innovation and strength originating from the people.
"When we disrupted supply chains and production chains related to large markets such as the US, EU, Japan, and Korea, the agricultural industry shifted to other markets such as the Middle East, Africa, South America, and especially the Chinese market took advantage very quickly" - the Prime Minister said and suggested that, currently, the relationship between Vietnam and China is very good, we must take advantage of expanding the market.
Setting a modest target, the Prime Minister proposed a figure of 55 billion USD
Stating that the targets set by the agricultural sector for 2024 are still modest, the Prime Minister emphasized that this year's target spirit must be higher than last year's. The entire industry's growth must be from 3.5 to 4%, and agricultural, forestry and fishery exports must reach over 55 billion USD.
To realize this goal, the Prime Minister requested the entire industry to focus on innovation, especially promoting digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy... considering this a new driving force for the development of ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and civilized farmers.
At the same time, form electronic trading floors, do a good job of forecasting supply and demand for information about the market situation, and connect producers with consumers.
Take advantage of major agreements such as FTA, CPTPP... to restructure export markets and reduce dependence on one market.
