Admitting that "Made in Vietnam" products are one level better than "Made in China", China is spending heavily to import a type of Vietnamese nut at an expensive price.

(HSV VIETNAM GROUP) – According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, cashew exports in September 2023 reached 56,794 tons with a value of more than 310 million USD, down 6.3% in volume and down 7.1% in value compared to August 2023. Overall, in the first 9 months of the year, cashew exports reached 452,590 tons with a value of more than 2.5 billion USD, an increase of 18.8% in volume and an increase of 13.5% in value compared to the same period in 2022.

The modern cashew nut production machinery system of HSV Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company can meet large quantities and high quality for export.

The average export price in the first 9 months of the year reached 5,722 USD/ton, down 4.47% over the same period in 2022.

In terms of markets, the US was Vietnam's largest export market in the first 9 months of the year. However, China is emerging as an active buyer.

Specifically, in September 2023, cashew exports to China reached 12,689 tons worth more than 73.2 million USD, a sharp increase of 108.6% in volume and 107.6% in turnover compared to the same period last year. This output is the highest since the beginning of the year and makes China surpass the US, becoming the largest importer of Vietnamese cashew nuts in September.

Overall, in the first 9 months of the year, China spent more than 433.7 million USD to import 70,479 tons of cashew nuts, an increase of 38.6% in volume and 42.3% in value over the same period last year. China accounts for 15.6% of output and 16.7% of turnover in the structure of Vietnam's cashew import markets in 9M/2023.

The average export price to this market reached 6,154 USD/ton, down 2.6% over the same period. The above price is 433 USD/ton higher than the export price of the whole market. According to the Chinese, because the local soil is deep, loose, and contains many minerals, compared to cashew nuts from other places, Vietnamese cashew nuts are softer, have better kernels, and have a lower rate of bad nuts.

Sharing with the news site QQ News (China), a user named Tianhe Wanwu added that Vietnamese cashew nuts are rich in nutrients, delicious and nutty, and are a must-buy specialty when coming to Vietnam.

Currently, Vietnam's cashew growing area is only about 300,000 hectares, providing about 30% of raw materials for businesses' processing needs, so Vietnam still increases cashew imports (worth 2.6 billion USD) to serve processing and export activities.

In 2022, with more than 3 billion USD in revenue, Vietnam's cashew industry still holds the No. 1 position in the world in terms of cashew kernel export technology and output, accounting for about 80% of global cashew kernel trade. Vietnam's main cashew export markets are the US, Europe, China...

According to statistics, Vietnamese cashew nuts are present in 90 countries and territories around the world. Export turnover increased steadily over the years. In 2006, with a turnover of 520 million USD, Vietnam was officially the number 1 cashew exporting country in the world. By 2010, this product for the first time helped our country earn 1 billion USD, and also entered the "billion dollar club" of the agricultural industry. Cashew nuts are Vietnam's leading export product in the world.

According to the latest plan of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), if raw cashew prices continue to stabilize and tend to decrease from now until the end of the year and early 2024, Vietnam's cashew kernel export turnover in 2023 will reach about 3.05 billion USD (down 50 million USD compared to the plan).
