Recently, at the inter-ministerial meeting between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that Vietnam's production and export of rice and vegetables at the end of 2023 and the first months of 2024 took place quite smoothly and achieved many positive results. Exports of rice and vegetables increased in both quantity and value.

Associations and businesses have effectively exploited traditional markets, while opening up many new and potential markets. Vietnam's rice brand and many vegetable and fruit products continue to be affirmed in the international market. Many businesses and producers have accessed and better exploited the advantages from FTAs in which our country is a member. Industry associations have been promoting an active role, helping member businesses improve the quality of agricultural production and import-export activities.

On May 31, responding to the press about the export results of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in May and the first five months of the year, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien emphasized that the agricultural sector continues to affirm its support of the economy.

According to Mr. Tien, in addition to the general difficulties of the economy, our country's agricultural sector faces great pressure from climate change and saltwater intrusion. However, under the management and direction of Government leaders and leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agriculture has achieved encouraging results.

Specifically, rice output reached 17.84 million tons, up 2% over the same period. Regarding livestock production, the pig herd increased by 3.8% and poultry increased by 3.3%, ensuring a stable food supply, while livestock product prices increased after many years, benefiting farmers.
